**NOTE: I am not currently taking on any new clients seeking EMDR**
Occasionally I will integrate the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy with clients if it feels appropriate. I will only do this with clients with whom I have an established therapeutic relationship and we have come to the decision together that it could potentially be helpful.
EMDR is a therapeutic intervention specifically targeting traumatic memories that continue to trigger your nervous system. Sometimes these are memories that you aren’t aware are still affecting you, or are connected to a series of memory networks, narratives, and/or negative beliefs about yourself that are creating barriers to your ability to function and thrive. If you are my client and you are curious about this process, don’t hesitate to ask about it! However, if I feel like you would be a good candidate for this intervention, I will likely bring it up to you and talk you through the step by step process.
If you are curious to learn more about EMDR therapy on your own, I recommend reading about it here. However, each EMDR therapist does it a little differently. I prefer to integrate this process into therapy we have already begun. I utilize my own language and paperwork that I developed myself with careful thought based on my philosophy and therapeutic approach.
